Don Pavili was an idea of three partners: a Portuguese and two Italians--all of them engineers. Pedro Mendanha, Michele Pavan and Andrea Mansili met in 2009 when they were studying engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon.
The two Italians were doing Erasmus. They became friends and Peter eventually go do Erasmus also in Italy. The name Don Pavili is the junction of the short form of their family names: "pav", Pavan; "ili", Mansili; and "don" was for Pedro. The ice creams are all made during the morning in the kitchen and there are two types of artisanal confection: snow cones (which only have water, sugar and fruit) and ice cream (that take milk or yogurt). The area of 55 square meters is close to 5 October Square, in the historic centre of Oeiras (right behind the Auditorium Eunice Muñoz). This is a strategic location, because the most closely site with artisanal ice cream it’s placed in Cascais or Carcavelos.
